2021 Hungarian Grand Prix: Esteban Ocon Claims Maiden F1 Win

Overview

The 2021 Hungarian Grand Prix, officially known as the Formula 1 Rolex Magyar Nagydíj 2021, was a Formula One motor race held on 1 August 2021 at the Hungaroring circuit in Mogyoród, Hungary. The race was the 11th round of the 2021 Formula One season.

Race Highlights

The race was won by Alpine's Esteban Ocon, who claimed his maiden Formula 1 victory. Ocon started the race in eighth place but moved up to second place on lap 1 after a collision between the two Mercedes cars of Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas. Ocon then overtook Red Bull's Max Verstappen on lap 57 to take the lead of the race.

Verstappen finished the race in second place, while Ferrari's Carlos Sainz Jr. finished in third place. Hamilton and Bottas both recovered from their early collision to finish in fourth and fifth place, respectively. Sebastian Vettel of Aston Martin was disqualified after the race because his car failed a post-race fuel check.

The 2021 Hungarian Grand Prix was one of the most thrilling races of the season. There were multiple lead changes and several safety car periods. Ocon's victory was a major upset, as he had never previously finished on the podium in Formula One.
